2021 Fantasy Affair Fantasy Football Week 1 Start/Sits

By: Matt Riser Aka the MattyDaddy

Week 1 is finally here and as always the MattyDaddy is all gas no breaks as we dive into the fantasy football season. As we get hyped on our stacked rosters and get ready to dominate, I’m here to help you make those tough decisions in your starting lineup. Here are the starts and sits at every position minus kickers to help you dominate Week 1.

Start/Sits are based on PPR scoring system in fantasy football

Be sure to check out our weekly player rankings throughout the 2021 season

Week 1 Starts: Quarterback

Jalen Hurts at Falcons

Hurts is in a smash spot against a team in full rebuild with a questionable pass defense. With the rushing ability to take it the extra distance and an improved offensive line and receiving options, Jalen Hurts has top 3 fantasy upside on Sunday.

Trevor Lawrence @ Texans

This rookie phenom should impress right away against one of the worst defenses in the league.

A rocket arm and quick feet should give the Texans trouble from the start. Trevor Lawrence has all the tools and the weapons in place to destroy this bottom 5 defense!

Honorable Mention: Sam Darnold vs Jets

If there was ever a time for Darnold to step up it’s this week in a revenge game against the Jets. New York allowed the third most passing touchdowns in 2020 so this game sets up nicely for Samantha to put up high end QB2 numbers. Great streamer since he probably wasn’t drafted!

Week 1 Sits: Quarterback

Tua Tagovailoa @ Patriots

With a new scheme in place and playing against a stout pass defense that allowed just nine passing touchdowns at home last year, this is a matchup I’m avoiding with sunnier days ahead for Tua.

Derek Carr vs Ravens

Another stout defense in the Ravens makes for a bad Week 1 matchup for last year’s QB12  Carr is up against a Ravens squad that only allowed 7 passing touchdowns at home in 2020. I’m fading Carr in this matchup.

Honorable Mention: Carson Wentz vs Seahawks

An offseason with little to no time to get comfortable with his weapons and coming off of an injury that limits your mobility screams danger to me in this matchup. Stay away till we see more production from this matchup based QB2.
