Week 1 Start Sit Wide Receiver

Week 1 Starts: Wide Receiver

Robby Anderson vs Jets

I’m all in on this former Jet receiver playing in a revenge game and reunited on offense with Carolina Quarterback Sam Darnold. This juicy matchup against a bottom five pass defense has big play written all over it!

Laviska Shenault Jr. @ Texans

Laviska brings versatility to the Jaguars in multiple ways and will be leaned on more in the short game. I could easily see Shenault thriving in the slot in a great matchup against a bad Texans defense that allowed 8.84 yards per target (23rd) in 2020.

Honorable Mention: Russell Gage vs Eagles

I expect a shoot out in Atlanta between these two teams with weak pass defenses. Gage finished 2020 hot with 14.5 points per game over the last seven games and I expect more of the same in this matchup.

Week 1 Sits: Wide Receiver

Odell Beckham Jr. @ Chiefs

In a tough matchup against a Kansas City secondary that gave up the second fewest points to the position last season, I’m taking the wait and see approach and making sure we have a fully healthy OBJ.  I don’t like the risk associated with this matchup.  Cleveland will try to use ball control to manage Mahomes, I expect a slow pace of play with lots of rushing from the Browns.

Kenny Golladay vs Broncos

Another player who seems to be dealing with nagging injuries in a tough week one matchup. Golladay has all the tools but could be on a snap count this week which makes him a sit.  The Broncos defense should also easily exploit the weak Giant’s offensive line making those deep targets Golladay thrives on infrequent and panicked.

Dishonorable Mention: Allen Robinson @ Rams

This could end up the toughest matchup the Bears face this year.  Robinson will go up against the best lockdown corner in the league, Jalen Ramsey, and a defense that allowed the fewest fantasy points to the wide receiver position last year in the entire league. It’s tough to sit a guy who was drafted in the first 4 rounds but it might be the prudent move if you have better options.
